Description

This report was compiled in 2020 for the University of Michigan (U-M) President's Commission on Carbon Neutrality (PCCN) by the Carbon Accounting Modeling Subgroup. The Carbon Accounting Modeling group developed a comprehensive carbon accounting model for U-M (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses) to inform PCCN recommendations. The model integrates existing work completed by PCCN analysis groups and the Office of Campus Sustainability, supplemented with additional analysis by the Carbon Accounting Subgroup.

This report describes the work and includes goals for the modeling effort, a detailed description of the carbon accounting model and its underlying assumptions, and the full set of results for the emissions reduction cases constructed by the modeling group.

This publication is a result of work sponsored by the U-M PCCN to inform the PCCN’s final recommendations to U-M President Mark Schlissel. This publication does not reflect Commission-level recommendations and should not be interpreted as being recommendations of the PCCN nor carrying its endorsement.
