Michigan Publishing Services offers deep expertise and streamlined monograph publishing options designed to make high-quality scholarship available in print, ebook, and open access.
We offer a variety of book services, such as cover design, copyediting and proofreading, ebook conversion and rich integration of digital scholarship and multimedia content through our Fulcrum platform. Your book will reach library and education professionals via our national and international sales distribution channels, and be preserved as part of the Library’s collections.
Each MPS publication is reviewed by our marketing team to develop appropriate promotional plans targeted for each book’s intended audience. This may include media outreach, awards submissions, book events, social media promotion, or other marketing efforts.
Prospective Authors
Queries should be sent via email to an appropriate acquiring editor; please see our staff directory or email mpublishing@umich.edu to schedule a consultation. Consultations can be scheduled at any stage of the writing process—from initial exploration of an idea to a completed manuscript.
When you are ready to propose a project, we ask that you prepare the following materials and send it to Marisa Mercurio:

- the purpose or rationale of your book;
- similar or competing books in the field;
- the audiences you envision for your book and the contributions your work offers;
- the length of the manuscript in word count and the number of illustrations incorporated;
- and your timetable for completion of the project (if it is already finished, please let us know that, too);
- a table of contents;
- a sample chapter
