Michigan Publishing is proud to announce the addition of Media Industries, a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that supports critical studies of media industries, institutions, and policies worldwide, to our journals program.
First launched in 2014, Media Industries was established to fill a void for scholars seeking to understand the significance of transformations in the media landscape. Today, the journal remains a critical venue dedicated to the rich and diverse literature emerging in the field of media industry studies.
Contributions span the range of media industries subjects: film, television, internet, radio, music, publishing, gaming, advertising, and mobile communications as well as industry-related processes, such as production, distribution, infrastructure, policy, exhibition, and retailing.
To reflect the geographic and theoretical diversity of the scholarship, the journal is lead by an editorial collective comprised of members representing nine institutions across four continents: Chinese University of Hong Kong; Georgia State University; the University of California, Santa Barbara; King’s College London; Queensland University of Technology; RMIT; Stockholm University; University of Nottingham; University of Texas at Austin.
As industry and academic trends continue to evolve, so does the world of online publishing. As a confluence of all three, so does Media Industries.
The archive of back issues and the newest issue 4.1 are online and open access.
