New Releases

MPublishing is pleased to announce the availability of Music & Politics, an open-access online journal publishing since 2007. In partnership with MPublishing, the full run of Music & Politics is freely available online under a CC-BY-NC-ND license.

This peer-reviewed journal publishes two issues per year on topics including the impact of politics on the lives of musicians, music as a form of political discourse, and the influences of ideology on musical historiography. In addition to interdisciplinary scholarship on the intersection of music and politics, most issues contain:

  • A translation of an article on music and politics not previously published in English
  • A featured article, Music and Politics in the Classroom, covering topics that are appropriate for undergraduate classes and currently lacking in the literature
  • A book list of items published in the last six months in the area of music and politics, compiled by Eunice Schroeder, Music Librarian, University of California, Santa Barbara
  • An article by a graduate student on any area of music and politics

Subscribe to the journal’s RSS feed to keep up with new content as it is published. The next issue of Music & Politics is slated to appear in winter 2013.
